I am currently a second year medical student at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine. In 2010 I earned an M.F.A in Fiction from Vermont College of Fine Art. In 2007 I earned a Masters of Liberal Arts from University of Pennsylvania with a concentration in creative writing. I completed my undergraduate degree at Bennington College in 2002 where I majored in Visual Art.
Experience
I have 11 years of experience working in the sciences, first doing bench research and then scientific publishing. During that time I earned two masters degrees in writing which not only allowed me to join my passions for science and the written language, but also led me to teach science writing and creative writing at the college level. For me, the best part about teaching is being able to simplify a difficult idea and then watching my students have that 'aha!' moment where it all clicks into place. Sometimes all it takes to get over a hump of confusion is having someone explain the topic or problem in a different way, from a different perspective. Whether you need help with biology, physiology or any kind of writing project, I can help you gain clarity and understanding of what you're learning.

Hobbies
When I'm not tutoring or studying, I enjoy drawing and painting. Even though medicine is my passion, I enjoy the arts and try to stay engaged with the local art community. As a longtime runner, I'm also interested in health and wellness in relation to sports performance. Reading and writing are also a big part of my life.
