EducationI double majored and received my BS in Biology and Chemistry from St. Joseph's College. After getting the popularity vote and passing the interview process, I was selected for a Valedictorian for class of 2011.
During summer of 2010, I did an internship at MIT for the neuroscience research. I was an undergraduate research fellow in a neuroscience lab at Columbia University Medical Center.
After graduation from St. Joseph's College, I am continuing my education in advanced study in science: I am currently attending UPenn to obtain my Ph.D in Neurosicence.
ExperienceTeaching has been my passion: I've been tutoring students especially in chemistry and math since high school. I tutor regent chemistry, Math A and B to high school students. Because I get agitated when Im confused about the learning materials, I like to break down complicated topics into simpler, more fun, applicable and relatable concepts.
At St. Joseph's College, I worked as a lab assitant in Biology Deptartment for three years. I also worked in the academic center where I tutored students in chemistry, biology, physical science, and calculus. Besides, I was a Teacher Assistant in Biology Department. I had taught a General biology lab session.
Outside of school, I tutor students in all ages. I had tutored an ADHD 10-year-old child to help with his homework for a year. I tutored an eight-grader to improve his critical thinking skill for approaching and solving Math problems. I also tutor younger kids who are taking NYC gifted and intelligent exam.
I have written and edited the textbook for the high school students, Neuroscience: A Primer, which will will soon be available for public purchase on Amazon. I am a part of the UPENN Upward Bound Program, where my colleagues, including myself, help high school students explore exciting research in science and prepare them for brain bee competition. I also have given the Neuroscience Lecture to high school students who are in this program.
As pat of the PH.D training, I was a teaching assistant for the Introductory Neuroscience Course for undergraduates at UPenn.
HobbiesI enjoy going to Dance classes such as Zumba, freestyle/Latin rhythm cardio workout.
Favorite TV shows:
Perception is one of my most favorites (it's about brain and behavior!), Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul. I also like comedy shows, including Big Bang Theory, Sabrina (i know its a little childish but hey, nothing's wrong with that), How I met your mother, and It's always sunny in Philly!
