Experience

My name is Lindsay and it is a pleasure to "virtually" meet you! I am a passionate educator with a superb education and experience assisting in teaching, lesson planning and special education across a broad scope of subjects, methodologies and student abilities. I am currently pursuing my Masters in Elementary Education at Saint Joseph’s University where I have maintained a GPA of 3.9 while accumulating experience in fieldwork at a variety of private and publicly-funded institutions. I also have professional experience and am currently working as a lead teacher in a Pre-K classroom in Center City, Philadelphia. I am passionate about front-line technology and methodologies and use diverse, highly-effective tools in and out of the classroom such as smart boards and progressive literacy software to integrate visual, audible and tactile aspects for holistic development. My positive attitude, leadership skills and high level of organization will help students succeed in a fun and engaging manner. Dealing with the challenges of a learning disability throughout my elementary school years really pushed me towards the field of education. Though early testing doubted my chances of success, my teachers at the school I attended specifically for children with learning disabilities never gave up on me. Whether it was songs to assist in the memorization of multiplication facts or the usage of shaving cream to learn the alphabet, creativity always paved the way towards personal achievement. If it was not for these caring and determined teachers, I would never have been able to participate in and ace honors courses later on. Every time I acknowledge the influence these instructors had on my life, I realize the power given to all educators: the power to help mold future leaders. It is this strong impact that motivated me towards a career in teaching and still serves as a source of inspiration behind the multi-sensory approach I currently practice. Based on my own challenges growing up, I understand the needs of struggling students and feel I have the necessary tools to teach children on all academic levels. By incorporating easy tactics and mnemonics into word problems, facts, and critical reading, a positive and comfortable learning environment will be created for all students.
