Brown University - BA, French & Linguistics
Experience
I have a bachelor's degree from Brown University in French and Linguistics. My favorite subject to tutor is French. I began my study of French at age five and spent a semester abroad in Senegal, speaking only French. I also spent several semesters at Brown as a teaching assistant in the French department. I'm comfortable tutoring any level of French. I also love helping students prepare to take standardized tests like the SAT. I personally love studying for and taking these tests, and I know how to make the process exciting and fun. I have taught SAT prep to first generation college students and low-income high schoolers. One of my students was even accepted to my alma mater, Brown! I have worked for two different testing companies: one where I created test questions for the TOEFL Junior and a creator of state tests. I've also been a full-time professional tutor, where I tutored students aged five to 21 in reading comprehension and reading. Those students ranged in ability from academically excellent to severely learning disabled. My tutoring style involves getting to know the individual student and tailoring my methods to his or her unique interests and qualities. When I'm not working, I'm studying about cheese! I am working toward becoming a certified cheese professional and running my own cheese shop.
