"If you want people to understand you," a man from Africa once said, "speak their language." I speak three-and-a-half languages fluently. I say three-and-a-half and not four because I am not able to practice the fourth as much as I want to. I was born in the Caribbean country of Haiti and grew up as a bilingual speaker of French and Haitian Creole. As an 8 year old, I was already a fluent speaker of English. At 12, I began to learn and speak Spanish. My family moved to the United States in 2007 because of political turmoil in Haiti. It took a while for me to adjust to American culture, but I learned quickly since I already spoke English. Those from foreign lands whom I have met during my life have always wanted to speak to me since I understand them in ways other have not, simply because I speak the same language. The power to understand someone else in their native tongue can help build relationships that can last a lifetime. I want to assist you in speaking my language so you may better understand who I am and the culture I come from. I am available as a tutor in most levels of French and Spanish.
