Experience
I graduated from the University of Maryland in College Park with a Bachelor of Science in elementary education. Following graduation I took a teaching role, instructing mathematics. I began with teaching Algebra 1 and 2 to eighth graders, in addition to pre-Algebra to seventh grade classes. I will teach reading, math, and social studies to grades four and five during this school year. I am also skilled at tutoring these courses to elementary grade students, as well as Algebra at the middle school level. I also have experience teaching phonics, grammar and mechanics, and Algebra 3/4. Mathematics has long been my strongest subject and comes naturally when tutoring. I enjoy relating various nuances of the subject material to real world scenarios, making math enjoyable to learn. Math can be a very challenging subject and I work hard to encourage students to approach problems from different angles and remain positive throughout; this instills confidence and alleviates frustration, leading to overall success in reaching goals and improving knowledge. My hobbies and interests include cooking, hiking, watching sports and playing many of the same, and reading.
