Experience
I graduated from Harvard University with a degree in education. I spent eleven years teaching high school English. As a teacher, I learned that every student learns differently. While teaching to groups and classrooms, I provide tactile, auditory, and verbal demonstrations for each concept to appeal to all learning styles. In one-on-one education, I work independently to learn the student's personality, skills, interests, goals, and motivations. I base my sessions around the idea that education is the key to understanding the world. I encourage students to develop solid communication skills to ensure that they can aptly express their thoughts and ideas. Whether I am teaching about the Spanish Civil War or preparing a student for their ACT, I encourage each student to make real life connections to the material. I enjoy tutoring English to students, whether they are in elementary school or college. I can teach a child to read, while passing on a love of literature. I know valuable essay editing strategies that can cut down on a student's editing time while improving their score. When not tutoring and teaching, I enjoy playing the violin, writing, and reading. I often go running. I love to make soup and frequently try out new recipes.
