Education

I obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from The University of Florida in 2010. A year later, I earned a Master of Education degree from The University of Florida.

Experience

As a certified Pennsylvanian K-6 teacher, I am dedicated and committed to optimizing student success, academically and socially, in one-to-one settings. Hailing from The Sunshine State, I have obtained both a Bachelor's and Master's degree of Education from The University of Florida. Within two months of completing my Master’s internship in 2011, I was hired as a full-time 4th grade reading and math intervention teacher. Following that, I moved to New York City and became a homeroom teacher to a class of 4th grade English Language Learners and three classes of higher-ability 5th graders in a high-needs public school in the Bronx. With a desire to expand my reach to an even more diverse population, I moved to Abu Dhabi and taught 3rd grade students from 15 different nationalities at an international English-medium private school for these past 2 years. As a result, I possess a wealth of knowledge and experience in teaching and mentoring children from a variety of cultural and SES backgrounds, including ESOL, underprivileged, urban, and suburban. As I strive to ensure that all students receive an excellent education, I believe that my skills would not only be able to meet your child’s needs, but also cultivate a happy, lifelong learner. My strength lies in connecting with students and using that to motivate and challenge them with personalized, interest-based and innovative teaching methods. I also have a proven track record of helping students reach and exceed expected growth on standardized tests. One of my favorite things about teaching is getting to the “lightbulb” moment where the concept clicks with the student and he/she is able to understand something that was confusing just a moment ago. I would love the opportunity to support your child in improving his/her confidence, social skills, foundational reading, comprehension, vocabulary development, writing, and other English language skills, along with developing his/her aptitude in math, science, and social studies. Resume, references, and student testimonials are available upon request.
