Education

Junior Psychology major and American Sign Language/Deaf Studies minor at the University of Pennsylvania.

Experience

I have taken almost 10 psychology classes and done very well in them. Psychology isn't just my major; it is a passion of mine that I am enthusiastic about sharing with my students! I am currently in the 4th level of American Sign Language at the University of Pennsylvania. I enjoy helping my students with conversation, grammar and Deaf culture! I am qualified to work with Deaf or Hard of Hearing students as I am almost fluent in American Sign Language and am very familiar with Deaf culture. I love writing and what I love even more is to help my students improve their own writing skills. Writing is a great strength of mine and I have had extensive experience with numerous types of writing from college application essays to research papers. From reading comprehension to reading skills, I am able to help all ages with any part of reading they would like to improve in. I scored very well on the ACT and am enthusiastic about helping students receive a high score as well. I teach strategies and tips for the test as well as helping the student feel confident in their abilities to succeed.

Hobbies

I have a love learning that I am passionate about spreading to as many students as possible! In addition to tutoring, some of my hobbies include hanging out with cats, baking, exploring the city and its history, and golfing. I was born and raised in Philadelphia and attended The Baldwin School, an all girls, private, college preparatory school, from Kindergarten to 12th grade. It was there that I realized the tremendous impact fabulous teachers could have on students and where I decided that one day, I wanted to help students like me. From building mastery to confidence, I can do it all, and with a smile on my face! Now, I will be graduating the University of Pennsylvania next year and plan on going to medical school afterwards to become a psychiatrist that serves the Deaf community. I have an easy-going personality, and am able to get along with anyone. I create an environment that is conducive to learning and instill a great work ethic in my students, and make sure that every lesson is an enjoyable, but also productive, experience for my students. There is nothing better than helping the material "click" for my students, seeing them excited about learning and want to come back for more! If you are looking for the perfect balance of education and fun, then please consider me to be your tutor. I look forward to meeting you and for the start of something great!
