Experience
I am an undergraduate student attending Swarthmore College where I am double majoring in Environmental Studies and Computer Science. I have a lot of experience tutoring in Computer Science which began in high school when I worked at CoderKids, a computer science tutoring center in McLean, VA. There, I tutored students (ages 6-12) through a self-based curriculum in different languages such as Java, Python, HTML, Javascript, and more! I have experience not only providing educational support but also serving as a role model and providing personal motivation. In high school, I also tutored peers in subjects like English while leading our school's Writing Center. Currently, in college, I am a Dean's Tutor for Computer Science where I tutor peers in 1-on-1 settings in various computer science classes such as Data Structures and Algorithms, Intro to Computer Systems, and Intro to Computer Science. In a teaching environment, I prefer to help students with homework they have by filling in any gaps and providing personal instruction which is so valuable in learning any new topic. In order to best help my students, I tailor my teaching style to each student so it is most beneficial to them. I want to engage with my students so I am very open to suggestions and resources that they think they will most benefit from! I want to help each student reach their highest potential which can be done when teaching is done in a way that most benefits them! I have both been a math tutor and been tutored in Math so I know techniques that work best when tutoring someone. I have taken AP Calculus BC (score of 5), Linear Algebra, and Discrete Math. I am able to help with these courses or any foundational courses. I have four years of computer science experience composed of high school and college courses. I have taken courses in Java, Python, C, C++ and have completed two internships at Microsoft where I coded in C, HTML, CSS, Javascript, React JS, and Swift.
