I double majored in Communications and International Relations with a Marketing certificate at Towson University; Graduated in May 2008. I am TEFL certified as well.
Experience
I received a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate this past September in Santiago, Chile. I obtained the certificate after 175 hours of class and 50 hours of student teaching. After completing the certificate, I moved to Valparaiso, Chile and began teaching there. I taught and tutored for 9 months at the Chilean Navy, the University of Chile and CODELCO, a government run copper corporation. I was teaching class sizes ranging 1 - 15 people. While in Chile, I also tutored Spanish to ex-pats who had recently entered the country. I have dealt with foreign English speakers my whole life, as both my parents are from Russia and have only been speaking English for the past 25 years. I also lived in various countries around the world and have been forced to learn a language, rather quickly, that I had never studied or spoken before. Needless to say, I understand the hardships that learning a new language can bring you. I also understand what it takes to learn and perfect a language. I am patient, empathetic and ready to work hard with students of all kinds!
