Private tutor in Philadelphia, PA
University of Pittsburgh - BS, Bioengineering, Mechanical Engineering
I combine my background in technical work with my personality to improve learning for each student. Tutoring provides me with intense gratification as I know I am helping each student I work with achieve the goals they have for their academic life. My tutoring focuses are on Math and Science, as I majored in Biomedical Engineering. I also earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering. My minor was in Chemistry. For a few years, I worked in the engineering field, creating products. I worked as a tour guide on campus while I attended college, as well as a researcher. I played the violin in the orchestra as well, all while tutoring both high school students and my college classmates. The Career Access program through Pitt Engineering allowed me to better my tutoring skills. It was created as a support system for students who were attempting to earn their degrees in technical fields, such as Science, Engineering, Math, and Technology. Each of these fields are subjects I like to tutor in. I also work with students on test prep and ACT classes. I attempt to relate my tutoring lessons in science and math to the lives of my students. In my free time, I volunteer as a coach for Girls on the Run in Philadelphia. I ran a marathon myself in 2013 in Chicago.
