Jazz Studies Major at Rowan University
Experience
I have been teaching and working with people on music related topics from playing to writing to general theory for about 5 years now. I am a graduate of Rowan University studying bass in the Jazz Studies program. I have taught beginners and tutored more advanced peers. I started playing the piano when I was 7. I picked up clarinet at 9 and played in school bands and took lessons until I graduated high school. At the age of 12 I switched from piano lessons to electric bass and have been constantly working at the instrument ever since. My upright bass skills have been in a sharp increase of development, to the point of advanced ability, since I started 5 years ago. During all this time I have also been studying music theory and have become fairly advanced in my ability. My teaching style is very individualistic. I try to find the interest of the student and apply that to the lessons. This way I can keep the student involved and interested while at the same time instilling the fundamentals of playing and understanding music through a medium that the student can grasp. I focus a lot on music theory and have a strong understanding of the field and its application to different styles. I hope I can be the teacher you are looking for and I look forward to working with you.
