I want to help students of all ages to master the material that they are studying. I have found over the years that I often do not realize whether or not I understand a subject, aside from being quizzed, until I have to sit down and talk about it with someone. As a tutor, I can help not only to answer questions in problem areas, but also to help identify these problem areas that a student might not be aware of. I think my strength as a tutor lies in the fact that I am not too much older than most of the students I work with- as a college student, it was only a few years ago that I was in lower levels of school working on these very same problems. Unlike most teachers, I remember how both I and my fellow peers best learned when I was learning these subjects myself, not too long ago. I can help with most all subjects, but my specialties lie in math and languages. I demonstrated my math success through successfully scoring in the 90th percentile nationally on the AP Calculus BC exam, scoring a perfect score on the SAT Math Subject Test, and successfully completing my mathematical economics class at the Wharton School last semester. Regarding languages, I've shown my talent through high scores on the National Portuguese Exam (first in the United States in 2014), the National Latin Exam and the National Greek Exam, as well as my election to the position of Spanish Honor Society President as a high school senior. I would be the best tutor not only because I myself was recently learning these subjects myself, but also because I have demonstrated high levels of success in these subjects.
