My name is Fern and I first started tutoring when I was a high school student and I have continued to tutor ever since. While at Haverford, I worked as a teaching assistant for the geology department, where I assisted students with their laboratory assignments both one-on-one and in groups. After graduation, I spent a year in South Africa running a science tutoring program for eighth and ninth graders. As the head science tutor, I devised the curriculum, planned weekly lessons based on the students' needs, and worked with the students four afternoons a week. I believe in a student driven approach where I work with the student to guide them to answering their own questions.
