Experience
I am a tutor with a wide knowledge base of subjects. I have experience tutoring students in a variety of areas, including math, Spanish, French, US History, computer science, and preparation for standardized tests. I have advanced knowledge in all of these areas and can assist in learning both basic skills and advanced skills in these subjects. I also have experience working with students of all ages, including elementary school students, middle school students, high school students, and college students. I specialize in motivating students toward their goals and believe any goal is attainable given the right amount of prompting and assistance. My teaching style is to help students discover the answers on their own instead of encouraging rote memorization. I am particularly interested in tutoring students in history, as knowing the historical context of a subject increases the understanding of that subject. I have a bachelor's degree in public policy with a minor in education from Princeton, and I am presently working toward a graduate degree in computer science from Penn State. I have also acquired a teaching credential in social studies. I currently live in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In my free time, I enjoy reading, cooking, playing the cello, and playing soccer.
