Education

In high school, I used my independent study periods to pursue coursework in all 3 languages offered (French, Spanish, and German), eventually taking the AP exams for French and Spanish. I began my college career at American University in Washington, D.C. majoring in Spanish Language, but ultimately graduated from West Chester University with a degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders (Speech-Language Pathology) with a minor in Spanish. Per the requirements of my CSD program, I did coursework in Linguistics and Literacy Development. Independently, I've studied Mandarin Chinese, Classical Latin, Esperanto, and Italian.

Experience

Previous experience: Formerly a tutor of Spanish, French, and Italian at Delaware County Community College. Frequent tutor and study group leader throughout my academic career. Standardized testing: SAT II French: 770 SAT II Spanish: 770 AP French: 5 AP Spanish: 5 Why I want to be a tutor: Tutors have an opportunity to address student questions and frustrations that most classroom teachers don't, given the number of students and often inflexible curriculum in the school setting. I know what a powerful asset knowledge of a foreign language can be - both academically and professionally - and I'm passionate about fostering comprehension and appreciation of world languages in others. Relevant coursework: Numerous and diverse - don't hesitate to ask if you're at all curious. Resume: Available upon request, if you'd like to see more of my educational and professional background.

Hobbies

I try to fill my free time with reading, especially within my field, though I'll confess to a longstanding love of video games. I love music (I used to sing in school and around my community) and I play tennis, as well. Since relocating to Philadelphia, I've enjoyed spending time with friends in the neighborhood and exploring the city.
