I earned my bachelor's degree in Comparative Literature from Oberlin College. My life has been all about going after the mental satisfaction I get from learning, whether it's me learning something, or me helping others learn new things. I have experience tutoring a wide variety of people in a wide variety of subjects, including drumming, reading, improv comedy, Spanish, calculus, and so many more. I've spent the past year with the AmeriCorps, which gave me the opportunity to tutor elementary age students who were struggling in literacy. This experience really gave me the chance to get to know individual students and discover their strengths, abilities, and interests, enabling me to create lessons that are personalized for each student. I also learned to balance sympathy for the student's struggles, while encouraging them to push through to success. I really enjoy finding creative methods to interest students in the subjects they're studying, making it connect with them in a way that makes it meaningful, and thus more exciting to learn. I'm able to tutor in all elementary subjects, and Spanish, English, and writing at all age levels. I'm also available to assist students in preparing for standardized tests such as the SAT and PSAT.
