Experience
Bragging rights: I helped a high school student who competed in the Intel Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) Competitions and went on to found his own nanotechnology company. I was recognized by ISEF for bringing three competitors to the competition. Each won an award. I was trained as an "authentic science research in the high schools" teacher by Dr. Robert Pavlica, the founder of the program. It is a highly successful program that has produced hundreds of winners in all areas of science and engineering over the years. I have modified his program to focus on tutoring within my own domain of expertise, biomedical research. The goal is to go beyond testing and experience the real world of science by landing a summer position in a research lab. When successful, students invariably win awards at national and international competitions, which opens many doors for the future. I consider myself a coach, rather than a tutor. I always start by listening to understand my client's needs and motivations. Beyond the content, as an authentic science research coach, I support students by employing a thoughtful process that allows them to discover, explore and optimize their won interests, curiosity natural gifts and talents. I'm originally trained in protein biochemistry and molecular biology and have extensive experience as a research scientist I've also completed research in nanotechnology. I have also taught science for 15 years ranging from 6th to 12th grade. I've taught general science, physical science, biotechnology, chemistry, biology, Honors biology and authentic science research.

Hobbies
I love science and scientific research. I am endlessly fascinated by the latest discoveries and am itching to learn more. I am a consummate networker and also teach my students presentation and job networking skills. I am trained in Non-Violent Communication, which allows me to listen in between the lines with an empathetic ear.
