Hey there! My name is Ardona B. and I have been tutoring/ teaching for 4 years ranging from from middle school, college aged and non traditional students. I prefer one-on-one tutoring in order to be fully engaged with the student while analyzing his/her needs when it comes to writing, reading, grammar, and literature. My passion for English was instilled at a young age from my mother, a current English teacher at the Philadelphia School District. In college, I received intensive training as a Peer Writing Consultant before I was allowed to work with the student body in the University of Pittsburgh's Writing Center. I am well versed in writing theory, and apply effective techniques to resolve any higher or lower order writing problems the student may face. I have experience tutoring ESL students, and with a background in counseling, I aim to increase confidence in the English language through an empathetic approach that utilizes coaching techniques. During my last year as an undergrad, I served as a Teaching Assistant for a poetry class in an all male prison. During my time teaching, I developed a class syllabus based on the students' interests, facilitated weekly lectures, and held an end of semester poetry slam. My experience as a Teaching Assistant has inspired me to continue working with individuals of all backgrounds, and tackle any writing needs!
