Education

I attended Bloomsburg University and graduated with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology in May of 2014. I also finished course work for a Minor in French Language in the Fall of 2011. I also attended La Salle University (Organic Chemistry) and Penn State Abington (Physics 1 & 2).

Experience

At Bloomsburg university, I held the position of the ACT 101 Science and French tutor from 2013-2014. I helped students in all levels of French, especially conversational. I assisted students with General Chemistry and General Biology courses (lower level through general). In the Summer of 2015, I tutored in general biology, specifically with Ecology. I had extensive practice with the French language during a study abroad program in Cameroon, West Africa in the summer of 2014. For a little over a month, I spent the greater portion of each day conversing in French. I have been practicing French Language since 2002. Tutoring has appealed to me because it not only acts as aide to primary learnings, but because it also a form of alternative teaching. I’ve learned throughout my education that it helps a great deal if topics are broken down into “everyday language”. With this, topics can be applied to everyday life. Information sticks much more when a student is able to make real world applications. This concept has been fundamental in my educational successes and of those that I have tutored in the past. I would like to continue to share the idea because learning should not have to be bothersome or stressful!

Hobbies

As a graduate of a biological discipline, I still live, eat, and breathe science news and facts from all branches. I’m constantly sharing interesting information with my friends and family. If I’m not reading about new developments, then I’m either engaging or watching a sport. My number one activity is playing basketball. I’ve played basketball since I was 6, and even played on my high school’s state championship team as a point guard. I'm a huge fan music, no style in particular. I am a percussionist myself. I play the set, marching tenor/snares, and various mallet instruments. I’ve also played in marching, concert, and jazz bands as well as orchestras. As a wet chemistry laboratory technician, my passion for the sciences continues. I am currently taking classes so that I may fulfill a career as medical laboratory scientist.
